On August 12, the Damascus government forces and the so-called National Defense targeted the "Al-Rawiya" Agricultural Association, a water pumping station that services around 12,000 dunams of agricultural land in Abu Hamam. The station extends approximately 17 kilometers towards the neighboring town of Al-Keshkiah, part of the Euphrates area in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The shelling destroyed the generator that provided electricity to the water station, causing it to shut down entirely. This has deprived about 2,000 farmers of irrigation water, which may lead to their crops drying out, jeopardizing their main source of livelihood along with livestock raising.
