An agency affiliated with the Damascus government said, citing a military source, that: "At about 11:35 p.m. today (Monday), the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack with bursts of missiles from southeast Aleppo, targeting Aleppo International Airport and a number of points in the vicinity of Aleppo."

It added, "The aggression led to the death of a soldier, the wounding of 5 others and 2 civilians, and some material losses."

The strikes come a few hours after the five- Arab countries meeting on Syria, and it also comes one day before the Iranian President's visit to Syria, where Raisi is scheduled to make a field tour in the city of Aleppo.

The Israeli air strikes on Aleppo are not the first of its kind, as Tel Aviv has targeted Aleppo airport several times, partly because, according to the Israeli newspaper, Jerusalem Post, Iran has increased weapons  smuggling by using Aleppo airport to transfer ammunition and weapons to Hezbollah.
