Government siege puts Shahba into darkness
The siege imposed by the Damascus government plunges Shahba into darkness and returns it to kerosene lamps and candles.
For the second day in a row, the displaced people of Afrin and the people of Shahba in the camps and semi-destroyed houses are in complete darkness, with all the electricity generators that were supplying the Shahba Canton with electricity stopped for hours.
As a result of the Damascus government's strict siege on Shahba, and the prevention of fuel entry to it, on April 8, the number of working hours for generators feeding the canton with electricity decreased to only 2 hours, after it used to feed it for 4 hours a day.
However, on April 27, electricity was completely cut off from Shahba, due to the depletion of diesel fuel.
With the total power outage, the people and the IDPs moved to using kerosene lamps and candles to spend the long and dark nights.
The Damascus government tightened its siege on Shahba in the first half of this month, while completely preventing the entry of fuel, medicine and materials.
