The Kongra Star Council issued a written statement on the tenth anniversary of the ISIS attacks on Şengal, which took place on August 3, 2014:

"We honor the fighters and leaders who engaged in historic resistance against ISIS mercenaries in Şengal and pledge to realize the dreams of our martyred comrades for freedom.

Ten years have passed since the genocide inflicted on Şengal, and the fate of many children and women who were kidnapped, sold as slaves, and arrested by ISIS remains unknown.

The land of Şengal, which is the homeland of culture, protection, faith, and existence, continues to be under threat of massacres and genocide.

The Turkish state employs various types of military technology, aiming to annihilate our Êzîdî people, while the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) targets them daily with lies and smear campaigns, threatening them on one hand and contributing to the increased influence of the occupation in S. Kurdistan, which impacts women by causing displacement and genocide, on the other hand.

The fact that crimes against women are not yet considered crimes against humanity allows states and dictators who seek to maintain their power and existence through policies of female genocide to not fear accountability for their crimes and their savage attacks on women.

As long as female genocide is not considered a crime against humanity, there will be no reliable and certain struggle against the policies of genocide faced by society in general.

At the Kongra Star, we affirm that we will not remain silent about all forms of violence, occupation, despotism, and conspiracy.

The voice of Êzîdî women is our collective voice. Therefore, in the women’s revolution, we support the women of Şengal, Afghanistan, E. Kurdistan, and all those struggling for freedom.

We call on all free women, intellectuals, artists, and fighters whose hearts beat for freedom to take to the streets and strengthen the struggle together.”
