The British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen stressed during a press conference with the head of Mosul University, the need to create appropriate conditions for the return of displaced Yazidis to Shengal.

 The British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen, and the head of Mosul University, Qusay Al-Ahmadi, held a joint press conference today to discuss several important issues related to the anniversary of the ISIS mercenaries' attack on Shengal.

 Hitchen stressed that his visit to Shengal  was to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Shengal massacre.

 " Recalling such thing has a great positive impact in immortalizing the memory of the tragedy and highlighting the suffering of the people of Shengal" he said.

 The British Ambassador called on the central government and the government of Southern Kurdistan to provide greater support to the Shengal region.

 "We must all work to provide the necessary support for the reconstruction of Shengal and create the appropriate conditions for the return of the displaced and achieving stability in the region" he added.

 The press conference stressed the importance of joint cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom in various fields, especially in the field of education and reconstruction of affected areas.
