Voices are rising in the region of North and East Syria demanding the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, through various events and activities, and intellectuals in the region believe that more must be done to achieve the desired goal.

The demand for more comes as a result of the isolation that is increasing by the authorities in Turkey under the name of "disciplinary sanctions", as they banned again on July 4, for another 3 months, the meeting of Leader Abdullah Ocalan with his family and lawyer.

The member of the Union of Intellectuals in Raqqa canton, Shawakh Al-Ali, reiterates his call for more efforts in the North East Syria region, specifically from intellectuals, for the solutions presented by Leader Abdullah Ocalan in his proposals, and for achieving the dream of the peoples of North East Syria to regain their rights and reach autonomous administration.

He pointed out the importance of achieving Leader Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom, stressing that his physical freedom will push more peoples of the world to reject the authorities and demand rights.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been detained for more than 24 years in the Imrali Island prison in the Sea of Marmara, following an international conspiracy carried out by international and regional powers in 1999 in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, and was handed over to the Turkish occupation state on February 15 of the same year.

The last meeting with the leader was held by his lawyers, Rezan Sarica and Newroz Uysal, on August 7, 2019, while his last contact with the outside world was on March 25, 2021, during a 5-minute phone call with his brother, Mehmet Ocalan, which was then cut off.

The lawyers of the Asr Law Office submit two requests every week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Turkish city of Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate. Their relatives also submit two requests every week, but they are rejected.

The other member of the union, Mohammed al-Azzo, attributed the authorities' refusal to meet him to the qualities that Leader Abdullah Ocalan possesses that enable him to lead peoples against tyrants, and to his mark in world history as a fighter against oppression and a demander of peoples' freedom. He said about this: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan is a great leader and has left an unforgettable mark in history like Guevara and Nelson Mandela." He pointed out the need to intensify efforts for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, calling on all intellectuals in the North and East of Syria and inside Syria to support the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and work according to his theses, and considered it a duty for every aspirant of intellectual renaissance.

The co-chair of the Union of Intellectuals in Raqqa canton, Raad al-Fadel, believes that what is incumbent upon the intellectuals who are entrusted with the role of enlightening societies, to achieve the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, is to carry out their responsibilities in spreading his ideas that narrate the truths and facts of the peoples and their suffering with the authorities, as well as what they include of evidence for salvation.

He pointed out that achieving the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan requires more efforts and struggle, calling on everyone to express their desires.
