Sara Organization for Combating Violence Against Women in Aleppo, along with women organizations represented by Kongra Star and the Women's Justice Council in Afrin-Shahba in NE Syria, issued two separate statements today in response to the murder of a woman in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo on Monday.

The statement by Sara Organization was read in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood by its member, Barishan Rashid, while the statement from the women's organizations was read in the village of Tal Susan in the town of Al-Ahdath in Shahba by Kongra Star Coordination member in Afrin-Shahba, Reyhan Alou, in Kurdish, and by Sara member, Zeinab Mahmoud, in Arabic, in the presence of a large gathering of women and members of women organizations.

The statements began with the slogan "Women are Life... Don't Kill Life" and emphasized that backward mentalities continue to commit heinous crimes such as murder under the pretext of so-called "honor."

They pointed out that such crimes pose a general threat and danger to society, noting that "recently, we have seen how women are being killed in cold blood under the guise of honor."

Sara Organization specifically mentioned the murder of a woman in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo on Monday, stating that "Sabah Jihad Murad was slaughtered by her father and cousin, and her body was dumped in the Shaqif neighborhood." The organization highlighted that this crime indicates that "the patriarchal authoritarian mentality, bound by outdated customs and traditions, continues to dominate society."

The women organizations, through their statement, strongly condemned this horrific crime and denounced all forms of violence against women, calling for an end to these heinous crimes that spread fear and terror in society, stating that "assaulting and killing women is equivalent to killing all of humanity."

They urged the relevant authorities and legal bodies to take the necessary steps to uncover the truth, hold the perpetrators accountable, and impose the harshest penalties on them.
