The PUK has rejected the KDP's allegations regarding the fires in Southern Kurdistan, dismissing them as election propaganda and an attempt to provoke a civil war in Kurdistan.

During a press conference held in Hewlêr on Monday, PUK spokesperson Saadi Pira stated, "The Patriotic Union condemned the fires in the provinces because they represent a violation of the Kurdistan region and harm the citizens' economy." He noted, "The Iraqi intelligence informed us of the arrest of a person involved in this incident, who was a member of the Counter-Terrorism Service (affiliated with the PUK). The Service had already revoked all his privileges several months ago."

Pira further commented, "When it came to Hemin Mirani, the head of the Ministry of Interior's office in the region, during the conference held today in Baghdad, he engaged in election propaganda. There are many people affiliated with the PUK, but the party cannot be blamed for everything."

He emphasized that, "This is not just election propaganda; it is an attempt to incite a civil war." Pira added, "The accused confessed to receiving a sum of money. Why did they not question who provided this money?"
