The protesters, including members of the Kongra Star, demonstrated against the Iranian authorities' death sentences for Sharifa Mohammadi and Kurdish journalist Bakhshan Azizi, who were sentenced under various pretexts.

During the protest, women held up pictures of the activists and issued a statement read by Kongra Star member Heyvin Haji in front of the Kongra Star center in Dêrik.

The statement highlighted the various forms of torture and rejection faced by women demanding their freedom and rights in a society dominated by capitalism, referring to the Iranian authorities' suppression of the popular uprising led by women in E. Kurdistan and Iran under the slogan “Woman, Life and Freedom”, which began following the death of Kurdish young woman Jina Amini in mid-September 2022.

It noted that the death sentences against the activists are part of Iran's repressive machine that continues to violate human rights.

The statement condemned this policy, calling for an immediate halt to the execution sentences for Sharifa Mohammadi and Bakhshan Azizi, and urged all women in society to express their stance on the death sentences and advocate for women's rights and freedom.

The protesters called on international organizations and human rights groups to take immediate action regarding the death sentences for Sharifa Mohammadi and Bakhshan Azizi.
