The "Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Prisons" website announced that Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals sentenced Narges Naseri to 16 years in prison, in addition to depriving her of social rights for 15 years and imposing a financial fine of 330 million Iranian rials.

Narges, a Christian residing in Tehran, was convicted of charges related to "engaging in propaganda activities against Islamic law by communicating with foreign countries within the framework of extensive and influential media activities," as well as "propaganda against the state," according to the same source.

Narges Naseri was arrested on March 2, 2024, by Iranian intelligence services while she was in Tehran and was transferred to the notorious Evin Prison. On December 2 of the same year, she was temporarily released on bail pending the completion of judicial proceedings.

Her trial sessions were later held on February 14, 2025, before Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran. Her case was then reviewed by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals, which upheld the verdict against her.

This case comes amid a broader wave of repression targeting women and political activists in Iran, raising growing concerns about the state of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the country.
