Security Tensions continue in Sanamayn for 3rd amid house searches

Internal Security Forces continued their deployment in the western neighborhood of Al-Sanamayn, in northern Daraa countryside, for the third consecutive day, as a security operation launched following clashes that erupted during a raid on a house in the city on Thursday continued.

According to local sources, security forces are searching a number of homes for individuals suspected of being affiliated with, or cooperating with, the group led by Mohsen Al-Himeid, while security deployments remain in place in several neighborhoods of the city.

The operation follows clashes that took place at dawn on September 17 during a security raid. According to the Internal Security Forces, as reported by Hawar News Agency, the clashes resulted in the deaths of three Internal Security personnel and the injury of others. The security forces subsequently imposed a curfew in the city.

On September 18, the head of Internal Security in Daraa announced that a cell he said was responsible for the killing of the three personnel had been identified. He said that Mohsen Al-Himeid and Ahmad Al-Othman, known as “Al-Kashki,” were leading the cell. He also said that weapons, ammunition, explosive devices, and equipment used to manufacture explosives had been seized during the searches, while the pursuit of the remaining members of the cell continued.

In the latest development in the operation, the Internal Security Forces announced on Saturday that they had arrested Walid Al-Fallah, whom they described as one of the leading figures of the cell accused of responsibility for the killing of the three personnel. They confirmed that the pursuit of the remaining suspects was continuing.
