Newroz Association offers condolences on death of artist Gulistan Tahir

The Newroz Cultural and Social Association in Lebanon mourned, with deep sorrow and grief, the Kurdish artist Gulistan Tahir, known artistically as Gulistan Subari, who passed away yesterday evening after a distinguished artistic career during which she left a significant mark on Kurdish theater, according to a statement published by the association’s media committee.

Gulistan Subari was regarded as one of the artists who made a distinctive contribution to Kurdish theater. She was known for her talent, passion for art, and ability to embody theatrical characters and convey them to audiences, in addition to her artistic presence, which left a lasting impression on her colleagues and theater enthusiasts.

The association remembered the late artist as someone who devoted a significant part of her life to theater and the arts, emphasizing that her passing represents a loss for the Kurdish artistic scene and for theater, of which she was one of its prominent figures.

Her husband and lifelong companion, who worked as her director and closely accompanied her artistic career, described her following her death as “the Lady of Kurdish Theater in Rojava Kurdistan,” stressing that this title was not bestowed upon her merely at the time of her passing, but rather represented a culmination of what she had accomplished throughout her artistic career and the impact she left on the stage.

The Newroz Cultural and Social Association extended its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of the late artist, her colleagues in the artistic and theatrical community, and all those who loved her, wishing her mercy and peace, and her family and loved one's patience and solace.
