The Sterk Organization and the Child Protection Office in Afrin and Shahba canton condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Shahba region.

The Turkish bombing on the villages of Samouqa, Tal Madiq, Tal Gigan and Shahba Dam on May 18 resulted in the injury of 4 children, one of whom (Fares Ibrahim, 13 years old) later martyred from his injures.

Member of the Sterk Organization for the Protection of Child Rights, Zainab Haj Othman, pointed out that the Turkish occupation state’s attacks on the region continue on a daily basis to displace its people.

She said that the region had been subjected to constant bombardment by the Turkish occupation since its occupation of Afrin until now, and recalled the massacre that committed against children on December 2, 2019, which then resulted in the martyrdom of 8 children.

The member of the Child Protection Office in Afrin and Shahba canton, Rehab Jabo, explained that this is not the first time that the Turkish occupation has targeted children in its ongoing attacks on the region, noting that it has recently targeted a number of children.

Jabo pointed to the international silence regarding the attacks of the Turkish occupation state, and called on international organizations and children’s rights organizations to carry their duties regarding these attacks.

The member of the Sterk Organization, Zulukh Khalo condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Shahba area, stressing that these attacks will not break the people’s resistance. She said: “The Turkish occupation state seeks to break the people’s resistance by killing and targeting children, but our people are committed to their resistance.”

Amina Qadir, the member of the Sterk Organization condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Shahba region, especially those targeting children, and called on child rights organizations and relevant international organizations to hold the Turkish state accountable.
