One person died and another was injured in an explosion caused by a war remnant landmine inside an abandoned military battalion site in Al-Nasiriyah, in the countryside of Damascus.

One person died and another was injured today following the explosion of a landmine a remnant of war inside an abandoned military battalion site in the town of Al-Nasiriyah, in the Damascus countryside.

The explosion occurred within the battalion site, located on the Hajoula road connecting the towns of Al-Nasiriyah and Al-Nabk, resulting in one fatality and one injury, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Observatory stated that, since the beginning of 2026, it has documented the deaths of 254 people including 150 men, 94 children, and 10 women due to explosions involving war remnants such as unexploded ordnance and munitions, in addition to 395 injuries.
