Elections of NE Syria will be held in 134 municipalities

The People's Democratic Council of North and East Syria approved the administrative divisions law for the region on May 10.

Under this law, the territory was divided into 7 Cantons, 6 large cities, 45 cities and 141 towns.

Under the electoral law, municipal elections are scheduled to be held in 192 centers, but elections cannot be held in areas; Afrin, Al-Bab, Jarabulus, Azaz, Girê Spi and Serêkaniyê because of the occupation, while other areas due to the lack of the necessary infrastructure.

The High Elections Commission specified the places where the elections will be held, to include 5 large cities, 37 cities and 91 towns.

The Elections will be held in the following Cantons:

1- Jazera Canton:

Number of municipalities: 67

Big cities: Hasaka and Qamishlo.

Cities: Al-Shaddadi, Amuda, Derbasiyah, Tirbespiye, Çil Agha, Girke Leki, Derik, Tal Kochar (Al-Yarubiyah), Tal Hamis, Tal Barak, Al-Hawl, Tal Tamr, Zarghan (Abu Rasin), Markada and Arisha.

Towns: Arour, Tal Khanzir, Tal Tawil, Tuwaina, Tal Baydar, Rad Shaqra, Makhroum, Umm Madfa, Tal Majdal, Tanouriya, Karbawi, Al-Asibagh, Safia, Abadan, Abu Fas, Al-Hariri, Jagz Bazar, Topz, Tubu, Sanjak Saadoun , Abu Fari, Hilweh, Tal Marouf, Ma’shouq, Aberah, Kishk, Mustafawiyya, Khana Sari, Rubaria, Ain Diwar, Gare Fati, Khirbet al-Bir, Tal Ahmed, Okaz, Abu Jarn, Jaza’a, Samihan, Tal Hamdi, al-Fadghami, Tal al-Shayer. , Umm al-Hujayrah, al-Haddadiya, al-Ghurra, Qubor al-Qarajna, Qarmani, Tal Karam, Ghanamiya, Sikar and Tal Amir.

2- Deir ez-Zor Canton:

Number of municipalities: 18

Cities: Al-Kasra, Al-Jazarat, Hajin, Abu Hamam, Al-Kashkiya, Gharanij, Al-Shuhail, Dhiban, Al-Shaafah, and Al-Sousah.

Towns: Al-Sa'wa, Al-Basira, Al-Kubar, Mahaimda, Al-Hussan, Jadid Al-Aqidat, Al-Tayana, Al-Baghouz.

3- Raqqa Canton:

Number of municipalities: 15

Big cities: Raqqa.

Cities: Al Karama, Hazima.

Towns: Al-Akirshi, Ratla, Salihiba, Kediran, Al-Raqqa Al-Samra, Al-Qahtaniyah, Al-Jadidat, Al-Kalta, Tishreen, Mazra’ Al-Rashid, Al-Hamrat, Al-Kasrat and Al-Hos.

4- Euphrates Canton:

Number of municipalities: 14

Large cities: Kobani

Cities: Sarrin, Kenaya, Ain Issa.

Towns: Jalabiyya, Shiran, Al-Qadiriya, Tal Ghazal, Ramla, Bender, Tashlouk, Al-Jarn, Al-Hisha, Balak.

5- Manbij  Canton:

Number of municipalities 6

Big cities: Manbij

Cities: Abu Qalqal, Al-Muharraq.

Towns: Al-Haya, Al-Farat, Tal Hawdan.

6- Afrin and Shahba Cantons:

Number of municipalities 5

Cities: Tal Rifaat.

Towns: Sherawa, Ahraza, Fafin, Hadath.

7- Tabqa:

Number of municipalities 9

Cities: Tabqa, Mansoura, Al-Jarnia.

Towns: Al-Suwaydiyah, Al-Safsafa, Shams Al-Din, Al-Bu Assi, Al-Hammam, and Al-Mahmoudli.
