8 individuals suspected of war crimes arrested in Germany, Sweden
The public prosecutors in Germany and Sweden have announced the arrest of 8 individuals suspected of involvement in crimes against humanity and war crimes in Syria.
5 individuals were arrested in Germany on suspicion of being involved in crimes against humanity and war crimes in Syria, according to a statement from the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office.
The German prosecution explained in a statement today that there are "serious suspicions that the detainees committed acts of killing or attempted killing against civilians, amounting to crimes against humanity and war crimes," during the crisis that began in Syria in 2011.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of 3 individuals suspected of committing crimes against humanity in Syria in 2012.
