Displaced people from Afrin are preparing to welcome Eid al-Adha in the displacement camps in Shahba amidst ongoing attacks by the Turkish occupying state and the siege imposed by the Damascus government on the Afrin and Shahba Cantons. Despite the difficult circumstances they are experiencing, they are striving to secure the necessities for Eid al-Adha.

Fakhria Ham Rasho, displaced from Afrin, said, “Our situation is different from before, and our preparations for the Eid are limited because we are currently living in difficult conditions due to the ongoing siege by the Damascus government and the attacks by the Turkish occupying state. We are trying to secure the necessities for Eid, especially for our children.” She affirmed, “We just want to return to Afrin.”

Meanwhile, Zelokh Qasim, displaced from Afrin, stated, “We live in the Berxwedan camp after being displaced from Afrin. Our wish is the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan and to return to Afrin after its liberation.”

Zakya Najar commented, “The situation in Afrin was better; we were able to perform sacrifices and buy all the necessary supplies.” Additionally, she emphasized, “Humanitarian organizations need to hear our voices and take serious stances regarding the policies and crimes of the Turkish occupation.”

As for Rafat Aloush, he confirmed, “This is the sixth Eid we have spent as displaced people from our regions. But let the Turkish occupation know that it cannot break our will or deprive us of celebrating Eid because we believe in our cause and in the ideology of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”
