​​​​​​​Lebanon: 72 injured in violent clashes in Tripoli

Calm has returned to the Tabbaneh region in Tripoli, north of Lebanon, after the violent confrontations in the region since yesterday afternoon stopped between elements of the army and young men protesting the deteriorating economic and living conditions.

The Emergency and Relief Agency announced that 72 people, including 16 military personnel, were injured in clashes between the Lebanese army and demonstrators in the neighborhood of Tabbaneh and its surroundings in Tripoli, 13 of whom were transferred to the region's hospitals for receiving medical treatment.

Syria Street witnessed violent confrontations, during which a number of youths threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the army, who fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse them.

The Lebanese army has brought reinforcements to the vicinity of Tabbaneh and inside Tabbaneh, and has fired rubber bullets intensively to return and disperse the protesters inside the internal streets.
