Qahtan Ali: threatening to attack Şengal has strategic objective

Erdogan continues in his statements threatening to attack Şengal district in Başûr Kurdistan, according to his claims to end the presence of PKK there and hit the positions of People Defense Forces, the Co-chair of Freedom and Democracy Yazidi Party Qahtan Ali said in an interview Hawar news agency held with him in response, "Turkey is trying to resurrect Ottomans in controlling the road connecting between Şengal, Kirkuk and al-Mosul and occupy lands from Başûr Kurdistan.

On the threats of Turkish occupation to attack Şengal, Qahtan Ali said that the history of Yazidi community is full of massacres and concessions, most of which were obtained by Ottomans who have expanded their areas of control of killing, looting and criminality.

"Erdogan's threats to attack Şengal are a strategy he has been planning for years in an attempt to expand his influence through a plan to occupy Şengal, controlling in his influence the road of al-Mosul and Kirkuk," he said.

Ali also said that the massacre of 3 August 2014 caused bitter pain for the Yazidis. Now in Afrin, the Yazidi shrines were destroyed, and Yezidis were kidnapped and their properties were looted, as ISIS did in Şengal, "indicating that they do the same practices of annihiliation and destruction"

Ali pointed out through his speech to the complicity of Kurdistan Democratic Party with Turkish occupation and opened the way for him to occupy the territory of Başûr, and noted that Başûr was filled with Turkish military bases, which are numbered 23 bases.

He also stressed that Turkey is trying to increase the number of its bases, taking advantage of some Kurdish parties that act in accordance with their interests.

As for Turkey's claims that Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is in Şengal and the necessity of eliminating it in the area, he stressed that People Defense Forces helped Yazidis in Şengal and saved them from the massacres against them and provided the martyrs for that, after completing their humanitarian and Kurdish mission left Şengal and handed over the protection to the children of Şengal. Turkey's arguments are false and it wants to implement its plans.

Quhtan Ali called on Yezidis to unite and look at the general interest of Yazidi community and away from circumventing some of the parties that had a hand in the attack on Şengal and massacres against Yezidis "Yazidis have to know that many schemes and conspiracies are being plotted against them so they must know this well and keep away from thinking about narrow personal interests and looking at the general interest of Yazidis.
