Azadi Camp in South Kurdistan targeted by drone attack

Roj News Agency reported that Azadi Camp in the Koya district of Erbil province was targeted early today in an attack involving three drones.

The attack took place at two separate times, at 1:40 a.m. and 2:10 a.m., targeting Azadi Camp, which had previously housed the “families of fighters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran”, which opposes the Iranian authorities.

According to information from Roj News, the attack was carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the damage was limited to the targeted site, with no injuries reported among those present. However, the party responsible for carrying out the attack has not been independently confirmed.

The attack comes amid repeated strikes targeting sites linked to the Iranian Kurdish opposition in South Kurdistan.

On 3 March 2026, Azadi Camp was targeted in an attack involving three drones, which, according to information at the time, resulted in one person sustaining minor injuries and caused material damage.

On 30 April, the camp was targeted by five drones, causing material damage but no casualties, while reports indicated that the site had been targeted by two missiles several days earlier.

The camp was also targeted on 8 June by three drones, two of which crashed inside the site, while the third fell near the camp’s hospital, with no injuries reported, according to local sources.

On 24 September, a site belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran near the Soran subdistrict was targeted by three drones, resulting in one Peshmerga member being injured, according to security sources.
