YPG confirms preservation of legacy left by martyrs of Qaraçox
The People's Protection Units affirmed the preservation of the legacy left by the Qaraçox martyrs, renewed the covenant to continue their mission, strengthen the foundations of a free and independent press, and move forward with unyieling determination to build a free and democratic homeland.

The People's Protection Units (YPG) Media Center issued a statement today regarding the attack on Mount Qaraçox on April 25, 2017.
The statement read: "At dawn on April 25, 2017, at 2:00 a.m., the Turkish occupation state launched large-scale airstrikes on our General Command Headquarters on Mount Qaraçox, located near the city of Derik.
The airstrikes deliberately targeted the command center, central institutions, the media center, Rojava Radio, and our defense units active in the area.
These brutal attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 20 of our comrades, including prominent commanders and members of the YPG and YPJ media teams, and the wounding of 18 others. This aggression came at a crucial time, as our forces were conducting major operations against ISIS in Raqqa and Tabqa.
The Turkish state's goal was clear: to weaken our military capabilities, undermine the Rojava revolution, and silence the voices calling for democracy and freedom.
Media workers, who documented the progress of the war against ISIS and conveyed the voice of our resistance to the world, were among the direct targets of the attack.
Despite this, our forces responded forcefully, inflicting painful blows on ISIS positions in a short time. Today, we continue to follow the path of the martyrs of Qaraçox and lead the efforts to build a new Syria.
The martyrs of Qaraçox were not just defenders of our land; they were the vanguard of a new social model based on democratic confederalism, gender equality, and ethnic unity.
Our martyred leaders and comrades, as well as three media workers—Haqqi, Rawan, and Sheelan—are an enduring example in our struggle. Their legacy of resistance continues to inspire new generations. Today, at Tishreen Dam and Qaraçox, and in the figures of martyrs like Nazim, Cihan, and Agid, who sacrificed their lives in the struggle, they embodied the steadfast spirit and commitment to truth, freedom, and justice.
We commemorate our martyrs not only with sadness but with renewed determination. The legacy they left us is our responsibility to defend. It is our duty to preserve the gains of the revolution and to continue on the path they paved with their blood. We renew our pledge to continue their mission, strengthen the foundations of a free and independent press, and move forward with unwavering resolve to build a free and democratic homeland.
