Three people were killed when a landmine left over from the war exploded near T-4 Airport in the eastern countryside of Homs.

Three people were killed today when a landmine left over from the war exploded in the vicinity of T-4 Airport in the eastern countryside of Homs.

The explosion occurred in an area where landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind by years of war are widespread, resulting in the deaths of the three people at the scene.

Civil Defense teams went to the site, where they worked to recover the victims’ bodies and transfer them to the forensic medicine department in the city of Homs.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented, since the beginning of 2026, the deaths of 265 people as a result of explosions involving remnants of war-related explosive devices and ordnance, including 156 men, 97 children, and 12 women, in addition to 399 people who were injured.
