Two people were injured after a sticky bomb attached to a vehicle exploded at a security checkpoint in the Jazrat al-Bouhamid area in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor. Security units have launched an investigation and begun collecting evidence to identify those involved.

The Criminal Evidence Department of the Internal Security Directorate in Deir ez-Zor Governorate said that the fire that broke out today in a vehicle at the Jazrat al-Bouhamid checkpoint in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor was caused by the explosion of a sticky bomb, resulting in two people sustaining injuries.

Earlier, ANHA correspondents reported, citing local and security sources, that an explosion occurred inside a vehicle at the checkpoint, followed by a fire breaking out at the site, before it was brought under control and extinguished.

According to the Criminal Evidence Department, security units have begun investigating the incident and collecting evidence at the scene in order to identify those involved, pursue them, and arrest them.

The identity of the party responsible for planting the explosive device has not yet been established, while investigations are continuing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
