Two killed in Israeli strikes on southern, eastern Lebanon

In a statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that the Israeli army struck a vehicle in the town of Naqoura, in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, killing one person.

In a separate statement, the ministry added that another Israeli strike targeted a car in the town of Nabi Sheet, in the Baalbek district of eastern Lebanon, also resulting in one death.

Despite the approach of the first anniversary of the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to carry out strikes, particularly in the country’s south claiming that it targets Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and fighters.

Israel has intensified its attacks this week. On Saturday, two people were killed in two strikes that hit a car and a motorcycle. The Israeli army said it had killed a commander “in the anti-tank unit of the Radwan Force,” as well as “a member of the special unit” within the same force.

Two more people were killed on Friday in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli army, the first strike targeted the logistics officer of Hezbollah’s southern front command, while the second strike killed a fighter “involved in efforts to rebuild the group’s military capabilities.”

A series of Israeli strikes on Thursday targeting southern and eastern Lebanon left four people dead, including an elderly woman. The Israeli military said the strikes hit a weapons depot, a training camp, and military infrastructure.

The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States and France on November 27, ended a devastating war between Israel and Hezbollah that had lasted for more than a year.
