US President Donald Trump will meet with the leaders of the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in Riyadh during his scheduled visit to the region from May 13 to 16, a source close to the Saudi government told Agence France-Presse today.

According to the source, who requested anonymity, "Trump will meet with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Riyadh" with the aim of strengthening "political and economic cooperation and coordination."

Trump will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE from May 13 to 16, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said last month.

This visit to the Gulf will be the US President's second international trip since his inauguration on January 20, following his brief visit to the Vatican to attend the funeral of Pope Francis last Saturday.

Washington maintains strong relations with the Arab Gulf states, and the Sultanate of Oman is mediating in the nuclear talks between the United States and Iran.
