Widespread Israeli airstrikes hit southern Lebanon

Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes today on several areas in southern Lebanon, coinciding with explosions and artillery shelling targeting towns and villages in the districts of Bint Jbeil, Nabatieh, Tyre, and Marjayoun.

The airstrikes targeted the area between the towns of Haris and Hadatha in the Bint Jbeil district, while Israeli forces carried out explosions on the outskirts of Baraasheet and Beit Yahoun, according to local sources.

The airstrikes and shelling also targeted the areas of Mansouri, Tayr, Ainata, Kounine, Hadatha, Majdal Zoun, and Zawtar al-Sharqiya, as well as Khiam and Mays al-Jabal. The National News Agency reported that other areas in southern Lebanon were also targeted by artillery shelling and gunfire.

An airstrike also targeted the Al-Hammam area in the town of Khiam, where a building that had previously been hit in an airstrike was targeted again. Mays al-Jabal was also subjected to another airstrike.

The Israeli army said its attacks came in response to the launch of an explosive-laden drone toward its forces operating in the "security zone." It said it had targeted sites it claimed belonged to Hezbollah, including sites used to launch explosive-laden drones and anti-tank missiles.
