The head of the National Union, Bafel Jalal Talabani, confirmed that: “The Kurdistan Workers’ Party is not our enemy,” and called on the Turkish occupation state to stop its attacks on the Kurdistan regions, during a speech he delivered at the Al-Rafidain Dialogue Works in the capital, Baghdad, yesterday, according to Roj News Agency.

Talabani explained that the Turkish occupation state must stop its attacks on the regions of Kurdistan, and in the process of removing foreign forces from the regions of Iraq and southern Kurdistan, he noted: “The illegal presence of Turkish forces in the region has not been addressed yet.”

Regarding the components and conditions of the Yazidi community, Talabani called for: “Punishing those who committed violations against the Yazidis, and everyone who was the reason behind the entry of ISIS into the region, whether by the Iraqi government or the Kurdistan Regional Government,” and stressed the need to protect the Yazidi community and all other components.

Regarding relations between Iraq and southern Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani stressed: “It is necessary for the Iraqi government to support the Kurdistan region, and that the Kurds have a role in Iraq and everyone must realize that.”

Talabani pointed out the continued threat of ISIS in the region, as the Iraqi security forces still need to consult foreign forces. He added: “America is not an occupier in Iraq and must feel safe. We are now in a sensitive stage, and our relationship with America must be strengthened.”

The President of the National Union explained that the Iranian regime has a role in the region, and everyone must be aware of that.

In his speech, Bafel Talabani touched on the war between Israel and Hamas, and said: “A ceasefire must be announced in Gaza and the siege lifted,” explaining that he does not support any party in the Gaza war, but there is a new generation that is a victim of what is happening there.
