The SDF Media Center issued a statement yesterday revealing that an ISIS cell member was killed during an operation to capture him. The statement reads:

"Our forces continue their security operations against ISIS cells, achieving significant success in dismantling these cells by arresting their members and delivering decisive blows to the organization attempting to revive itself.

On Wednesday, July 24, our Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) conducted a security operation in the town of Markada, Deir ez-Zor countryside, targeting a dangerous ISIS cell member.

The operation followed comprehensive intelligence gathering about the terrorist’s movements and activities, leading to the identification of his hiding place. A cordon was established around him, and he was urged to surrender. However, he refused, fled, and began firing on our fighters, prompting a return of fire. Clashes ensued, resulting in his death.

The terrorist was active in an ISIS cell and participated in assassination operations against military, security personnel, and civilians in the area.

During the operation, our forces seized several weapons and communication equipment, including:

1 – 3 smartphones.

2 – 1 Kalashnikov rifle.

3 – 1 Turkish MKEK weapon.

4 – 1 night vision scope.

5 – 1 WIFI router.

6 – A quantity of ammunition.

Our forces reaffirm their commitment to pursue the remnants of the terrorist organization until the last member is eliminated in NE Syria, to rid our people of its terror and threats and ensure their safety and security.”
