Politicians demand meetings with leader Ocalan
A group of politicians from North and East Syria has affirmed that the ideas and philosophy of leader Ocalan remain deeply rooted in their consciousness and collective vision. They emphasized the urgent need to facilitate comprehensive societal meetings with leader Ocalan.

In the city of Hasaka, Farhan Dawood, the Co-President of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Sherin Osso, the member of the party’s Women’s Council, and Mohammed Ashraf Ali, the Co-President of the party’s Organizational Committee, spoke to ANHA Agency as part of the campaign titled “I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan.”
Farhan Dawood highlighted Ocalan’s historic call for “peace and a democratic society,” which he described as a critical starting point for resolving Turkey’s ongoing challenges. He stressed that regional crises cannot be addressed through the framework of the nation-state system, asserting that the leader's vision offers a viable solution not only for Turkey but for the broader Middle East.
Dawood further underscored that the only path to resolving conflicts and crises in the region lies in establishing a democratic system, referencing leader Ocalan’s concept of a “Democratic Nation.”
Dawood also addressed the difficult decision to dissolve the PKK, noting that it was a bold step taken by the leader and the Kurdish liberation movement. Despite such courageous initiatives, he remarked, the Turkish state has yet to reciprocate with meaningful actions. He pointed out that the continued isolation l in Imrali prison demonstrates the lack of progress, stating, “Although limited meetings with delegations from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party and the leader family have been permitted, the isolation imposed on the leader has not been fully lifted, indicating that it persists.”
Dawood urged the Turkish state to take concrete steps toward resolving the Kurdish issue—the fundamental challenge facing Turkey—and to advance democracy, freedom, and equality. He called for immediate meetings with leader Ocalan, adding, “Politicians, intellectuals, artists, and others from Kurdistan and Europe should be allowed to visit Imrali and meet with leader Abdullah Ocalan. We call on relevant authorities to create the conditions necessary for the leader to implement his vision of peace and a democratic society.
On this basis, we and the people of North and East Syria support this campaign and express our desire to meet with the leader.”
Sherin Osso, a member of the PYD Women’s Council in Hasaka, criticized the Turkish state for failing to act in accordance with the demands of the current era. She noted that the eyes of all societal groups are turned toward Imrali, awaiting the opportunity to meet the leader, and reiterated, “Our call and demand is to visit the leader Abdullah Ocalan.”
Mohammed Ashraf Ali, the Co-President of the PYD’s Organizational Committee in Hasaka, emphasized that despite the leader 26-year imprisonment, his ideas and philosophy remain a powerful presence among the people. He referenced recent reports about him over the past two months, noting that politicians and various societal groups continue to embrace his ideas. Ali expressed a desire to meet leader Ocalan to gain new insights into resolving Middle Eastern crises, stating, “As politicians, we wish to meet the leader to hear his perspectives on addressing the region’s challenges.”
