The Ministry of Interior of the Syrian transitional government announced today the arrest of Khaled Raed Bayrouni, known as “Abu Hassan Doshka,” whom it described as ISIS’s operational arm in Homs, during a security operation in the town of Hujeira in the Damascus countryside.

According to the ministry, Bayrouni served as the general military commander of what is referred to as the “Homs Province” and was responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of a number of operations in the city.

It added that his activities included preparing and using explosive devices and carrying out sectarian attacks, noting that he was responsible for the bombing that targeted the Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs in December last year.
