Plan of Women's Coordination in SDC to enhance women's political, social participation
The Women's Coordination in the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) announced a series of new steps to enhance women's participation in public life and decision-making. These steps are part of a work plan adopted during their regular meeting, which emphasized the importance of expanding women's organization and generalizing the political experience of the women in North and East Syria.

The Coordination approved a work plan for the coming period that includes organizing regular digital and in-person seminars aimed at exchanging experiences and strengthening women's participation in political, social, and economic life. This aligns with SDC’s vision of building a democratic and pluralistic Syria that ensures justice and equality.
This came during a regular meeting held by the Women's Coordination from political parties and women’s organizations under the umbrella of SDC, with the participation of representatives from several other parties and women’s institutions. The attendees discussed the latest developments on the Syrian scene, along with the current state of women’s work and ways to improve it.
The meeting focused on the escalating violations in the coastal areas and the countryside of Damascus and the negative impacts they have on various social components, in the absence of a comprehensive political solution to end the Syrian crisis. The discussion also addressed the impact of the recent lifting of some U.S. sanctions, which participants considered a positive step that could help alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
Participants also reviewed the outcomes of the Kurdish Unity Conference, describing it as an important step toward enhancing political rapprochement among Kurdish forces. They also evaluated the results of the Kurdish Women’s Conference, which was described as a qualitative milestone in the process of organizing Kurdish women and empowering them to play a greater role in public affairs and decision-making.
The participants affirmed that the high level of political awareness among women in North and East Syria is the result of long-term struggle and organizational accumulation. They called for this experience to be shared across other regions of Syria and for broader outreach to women throughout the country.
At the end of the meeting, the Women’s Coordination reaffirmed its commitment to continue efforts to enhance the role of Syrian women and ensure their active participation in building the country’s future on democratic foundations that uphold the rights of all citizens.
