Residents of Tal Tamr organized a sit-in on Palestine Street to protest the Syrian Ministry of Energy’s decision to raise fuel prices, calling for the decision to be reversed because of its direct repercussions on the population’s living and economic conditions.

The sit-in took place amid widespread dissatisfaction among residents over the consequences of rising fuel prices, which affect various aspects of daily life, particularly transportation fares, the prices of basic commodities, and services, thereby increasing the financial burden on residents.

During the sit-in, participants expressed their rejection of the fuel price increase, stressing that any rise in fuel prices would lead to a cascading increase in the costs of transportation, goods, and services. They called on the relevant authorities to review the decision and take into consideration the economic and living conditions of the population.

The sit-in comes alongside the closure of the Tal Tamr–Aleppo international road for the third consecutive day, at a time when other areas across Syria are witnessing ongoing protests over deteriorating living conditions and rising prices. Protesters are calling for improved economic conditions and for fuel to be provided at prices that are compatible with residents’ purchasing power.
