March 8 messages: Hope, solidarity, and struggle for rights

 Women activists from the Kurdish, Arab, Syrian, and Armenian communities, who have played a pivotal role in the July 19 Revolution (the Women's Revolution), sent their heartfelt greetings to the women of North and East Syria, Syria as a whole, and the international community on this occasion. Their messages were conveyed through ANHA agency.

 "This year must be historic for women in Syria"

 Kurdish writer Nariman Afdaki emphasized the significance of March 8, describing it as a sacred day on which women have left their mark on history. She noted that this year holds particular importance for Kurdish women and for all women in Syria, given the ongoing neglect of women's rights and history under the current regime. She further highlighted the silence of public opinion on these issues. Afdaki stressed that March 8 should be a historic day, calling upon all women—whether homemakers, workers, writers, artists, politicians, or laborers—to play an active role and struggle for their rightful place in the new Syria.

 A Message to Women in the Coastal Region

 Nawal Al-Mazeed, Deputy Head of the Women's Authority in Jazira Canton, noted that prior to the Women's Revolution, International Women's Day was rarely acknowledged. She stated: "The women of North and East Syria have asserted their presence through leadership. They have demonstrated the true meaning and significance of March 8 through their resistance, struggle, voices, and unity."

 Addressing women in Syria, particularly in the coastal region, Al-Mazeed affirmed: "The struggle of women in our region is the same as that of women across Syria. Our pain and suffering are shared. I hope that women in various Syrian regions will engage with the legal frameworks, policies, and initiatives for women in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and recognize the achievements women have made in this region."

 Hope for Peace and Security

 Aline Melkon, the member of the Armenian Women's Union, expressed her wish for peace and security for Syrian women so that they may contribute to building a free and democratic society. She voiced her hope that women's rights and demands in Syria would be realized in the coming years.

 A Wish for Strength and Resilience

 Maya Shaabo, Deputy Head of the Women's Authority in Jazira Canton, began her message by honoring the martyrs of the Women's Revolution. She extended her best wishes to the women of North and East Syria, who are striving to build a democratic society, hoping that they experience strength and resilience in their journey.
