The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) denounced the attack launched by the Turkish occupation state on journalists in Sulaymaniyah, saying: "Journalists and workers in the field of free press have always revealed the reality of the occupation, its oppression and injustice. The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a statement regarding the Turkish state's attack on Friday on a car of journalists working in the free media in the Sayed Sadiq district of the city of Sulaymaniyah, which resulted in the martyrdom of journalists Gulestan Tara and Hiro Baha al-din, and the injury of 6 other journalists.

The statement of the Kurdistan National Congress read:

"The Turkish occupation state always uses all methods of war and repression against the Kurdish people, their revolution and their achievements. However, it has not been able to break the courage and heroic resistance of the Kurdish people. The successive plots and attacks of the Turkish state were thwarted. Brave and honest journalists have always been the true voice of the people and their legitimate rights. Journalists and freelance press workers have always exposed the truth, oppression and injustice of the occupation. Therefore, it is not surprising that the occupying power is afraid of journalists' pens and cameras.

We, in the Press Committee of the Kurdistan National Congress, extend our condolences to the families, colleagues and comrades of the martyrs of the Freedom Voice, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. We strongly condemn these heinous crimes committed by the Turkish state and the Erdogan-Bahceli government. We reiterate our promise that we will not let the flame of these journalists go out. We will continue their struggle to expose the truth about fascism and the occupation and barbarism of the Turkish state."
