RJAK voices its concerns about situation of Jiwana Abdel Baqi

 The KDP authorities arrested the RJAK members, Khawla Hassan, Jiwana Abdel-Baqi, and Siran Hassan, more than 30 days ago.

Yesterday, Tuesday, it released Khawla Hassan and Siran Hassan, and kept Abdel-Baqi in her detention.

 The three members were returning from the ceremonies commemorating the Shingal massacre when they were arrested by the authorities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the entrance to Hawler province, Southern Kurdistan, which is under the authority of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

 A member of the diplomatic relations of the RJAK organization, Zeinab Muhammad, stated that they do not have any information about Abdel-Baqi, and confirmed that the policies of the Kurdistan Democratic Party coincide with the policies of the occupying Turkish state.

 'We have concerns about the health of the detainees'

Despite numerous attempts to reach out to her and check on her;  However, the KDP did not disclose any information about her and did not respond to requests to visit them.  Zainab Muhammad says, "The Kurdistan Democratic Party refuses to appoint lawyers for the detainee and does not allow any visit to her. The party refuses family visits as well as visits by lawyers, and we have no information about her psychological and health condition. According to the information we have, Abdul Baqi is not in good health. That is why  we have real concerns."

 'Follows Turkey's policies'

 Zeinab Muhammad highlighted the hostile policies of the KDP against women, and said, "(The KDP) follows Turkish policies, there is no difference between them at all. In Turkey they do the same. Women are subjected to arrests and crimes, and the KDP did not explain why.  His arrest of our comrades."

 Zainab added, "There is nothing left of the Southern Kurdistan government but its name, Turkey is the one who runs Southern Kurdistan. The regime in it is linked to Turkey, which is behind the arrest of our female detainees without any charge or legal basis."

 'They deny the strength and struggle of women'

 Zainab Muhammad criticized the position of women's organizations in Southern Kurdistan, "The struggle of women in Southern Kurdistan has reached a good level, and there are women's voices rising in the face of the existing regime. The government of Southern Kurdistan denies the strength and struggle of women. The regime seeks to silence women's mouths, obstruct their struggle and subjugate society through women."

 She added, "There are weak positions on the part of women's organizations in southern Kurdistan regarding violations against women, because they are affected by the policies pursued by the authorities. They issued several statements, but they did not have the desired effect, and this is under criticism."

 Zainab demanded the immediate release of Joanna Abdel Baqi.
