Pompeo said in a statement on Thursday that the United States did not see credible evidence in support of the court that convicted Matin Topoz with the assistance of a terrorist organization, sentencing him to eight years and nine months in prison.

Pompeo added: "Condemnation undermines confidence in Turkish institutions. Confidence is the foundation of Turkish-American relations."

The Turkish-American relations have been witnessing many tensions on the impact of the first purchasing Russian missile system, as Washington said that this system reveals the secrets of American ghost aircrafts.
