Women in Spanish cities took to the streets, organizing protest activities, chanting slogans “They Kill us”, and “Stop Killing”.

To meet the calls of several women's rights councils, women in the Spanish cities of Madrid, Sevilla, San Sebastián and many other cities went out, and protesters highlighted the recent killings and abuses against women.

Spain is the first EU country to adopt a law on violence against women, but has not taken measures against the killing of women. More than 1,000 women have been killed since 2003 by their husbands or by people living with them in Spain.
