The campaign, which will last for two months starting July 1, aims to reduce “the dangerous societal phenomena that primarily threaten women’s lives.”

This came in a statement made by the organization in front of its center in the Halko neighborhood in the city of Qamishlo, with the participation of representatives of organizations, women’s movements and associations concerned with children in NE Syria.

The statement was read by the spokeswoman for the SARA Organization Rasha Darwish.

The statement stressed that “violence against women and girls is considered one of the most common violations of human rights and has a major and catastrophic impact on women and society, especially with the increase in cases of murder and suicide among women.” It stressed that the reason is the male ideology that dominates society and some reactionary concepts against women.

"In order to reduce the dangerous societal phenomena, the organization revealed the launch of 2 months awareness campaign in towns and cantons of NE Syria" the statement added.

The campaign includes a detailed reading and explanation of the Family Law and an introduction to the forms of violence against women and how to stop and reduce them to create a violence free society.
