World press: Idlib's contract is about to deteriorate

On Saturday, the International Press touched upon the Russian-Turkish agreement about Idlib and its reaching to the edge of deterioration because the Turkish side has not fulfilled its promises.

The English-speaking daily Arab News newspaper focused on the situation in the demilitarized zone according to the Russian-Turkish agreement in Syria and entitled, "Russia: Turkey's allies have not withdrawn from Idlib yet."

The newspaper quoted from the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday that Turkey failed to persuade the mercenaries to withdraw from the demilitarized zone in Idlib Syrian governorate which was approved by Ankara and Moscow in September.

The ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, "Intermittent fighting continued in places with a remained terrorist presence, especially in Idlib…The militants continued to bomb western Aleppo."

According to the newspaper, on Thursday, Turkish and Russian officials met in Ankara ahead of the Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Istanbul on November 19.

The newspaper quoted from an expert on Middle East affairs in Sakarya University in Turkey Anis Ayasli saying, "The most significant setbacks of Idlib deal are that the moderate groups in Idlib is supporting Hayet Tahrir al-Sham now if there is a clash between them and the Syrian regime."

Ayasli assured, "Turkey, in this sense, failed to separate the moderate groups from the extremists completely," adding that intensifying the fighting between the regime and the mercenaries could lead to the collapse of the deal completely.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in Britain reported an increase in the rate of violations of Idlib demilitarized zone.
