Rojava politicians: North Syria people must be ready to confront occupation

After defeating IS' gangs in North Syria and Rojava areas as a result of the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Turkish state launched hostile attacks against North Syria's areas and people. Hawar news agency (ANHA) held an interview with a number of Rojava politicians about the background and objectives of these attacks.

The politician Abdul Wahab Kassem who has been practicing the political work on the Syrian arena for decades said that understanding the backgrounds and reasons of the recent Turkish attacks requires a return to the history of the Turkish state, "Why did the Turkish state choose the date of the first of November that marks the day of Kobanî World Day for the start of its attacks? On this date, the Kurdish people made heroic resistance against IS mercenaries. This resistance forced the world to stand by the resistance. This project put forward by the Resistance Forces for the future of the Middle East poses a great danger to the interests of Turkey. This resistance has thwarted the hopes of Erdogan's administration to restore the glories of the Ottoman Empire. This resistance continued in Manbij, al-Raqqa and many areas of North Syria, and all of Erdogan's plans failed. Turkey saw the danger of this resistance which made it to hold agreement with Russia, and therefore, began to launch attacks on the area from which this resistance was launched, but Turkey cannot abandon NATO and stand itself with Russia. Erdogan and through his agreement with Russia wants to tell America that it needs Turkey in its project in Syria."

'Turkish state's attacks' directly affect the war against IS'

The member of the logical committee in the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria Abdul Halim Suleiman pointed out that the attacks of the Turkish state coincided with the imminent elimination of IS in Syria. He added, "SDF are still making brave resistance to eliminate IS mercenaries in the area. The Turkish state's policy has always focused on the logic that the Kurdish project and presence pose a great danger to it; therefore, the Turkish state is always looking for arguments and justifications to launch attacks on the Kurds. The aim of these recent attacks on the areas of East Euphrates is to obstacle the progress of SDF against IS. These attacks directly affect the war against IS."

'Turkey seeks some gains from the international alliance

He pointed out that Turkey has certain objectives in Afrin, Aleppo and Idlib, and said, "Turkey is seeking to Turkificate the areas that it reaches and occupy them, and Afrin is a good example. In Afrin, the Turkish state is now destroying the land, people, nature and existence. It is clear that Turkey will put more pressure on the International Alliance to get more gains. Perhaps the Coalition has held secret alliances with Turkey. The international forces do not act in accordance with the charters and humanitarian principles regarding the Kurdish Cause in all parts of Kurdistan, but act in accordance with their interests.

'Some forces did not expect the success of Syria's democratic project'

The politician Abdul Halim Suleiman also touched upon the reason for the Turkish hostility towards Syria's democratic project proposed by the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) and said in this regard, "When Syria's democratic project was put forward, many forces did not expect the success of the project, but over time, it has become clear that North Syria's peoples united their ranks and defended their homeland together. This democratic pattern of co-existence posed a great danger to Erdogan's dictatorial ideas."

He stressed the failure of the Turkish dictatorial mentality in the face of the democratic project, and concluded by saying, "North Syria's people must be vigilant and fully ready... Our people have to stand by their fighters in this resistance."
