Media reports: Trump will pressure Netanyahu on stalled peace process

American Senior administration Officials said President Trump's Middle East peace plan contained several important provisions that would pose political challenges to the Israeli prime minister. Channel 10 reports that Trump told French President Emmanuel Macron that he was prepared to become "tough" with Netanyahu if necessary.

The channel quoted Trump saying to Macron "I have given Bibi a lot - I have moved the embassy to Jerusalem," Trump reportedly referred to the annual US aid to Israelis.

"You know, Emmanuel, I can be tough with Bibi," Trump said.

A White House Official did not confirm or deny the report and simply told the Jerusalem Post: "The president believes that the prime minister is committed to pursuing a comprehensive and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians."

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last month, Trump announced his preference for a two-state solution and his intention to unveil the US plan by the end of the year.

Since January, Trump has said twice that Israel would "have to pay more" in an agreement with the Palestinians since the US embassy in Israel was moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a move that is said to take the issue of Jerusalem "out off the table." in future talks. He has yet to decide which concessions to expect from the Israelis in a peace deal.
