A political symposium in Aleppo entitled ‘Unity of Syria is of unity of Syrian people’

The symposium was held in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city, and several political parties in Aleppo, including the Syrian National and Social Party, Solidarity Party, the Popular Will Party, the Syrian United Communist Party, the Syrian Democratic Party, the Youth Party for Establishment and Change, the Dignity Party, the Popular Party to Liberate Iskenderun, the Arab Nationalist Party and Palestinian organizations in addition to representatives of the Christian and Armenian communities, and from Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, representatives of the Future Syria Party, the Democratic Union Party and the Syrian Democratic Council and representatives of the Democratic Society Education Committee, the Yazidis House, Asayîş Forces, the Social Justice Divan, the Democratic Society Movement, Kongra Star, the Interfaith Forum, Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood’s notables and many cultural and political figures attended.

The political symposium started with holding a minute of silence. Then, a welcoming speech was given by the General Coordinator of the Syrian National Democratic Alliance Ahmed Arej. Ahmed Arej stressed that the dialogue for the homeland’s issue begins with such symposiums and meetings.

Arej pointed to that the interference of the regional and international countries in the Syrian crisis, and stressed that Syria is going through a serious and sensitive stage which requires everyone to take its responsibilities to restore the national unity to Syria.

Arej intensified, “Even if we disagree on some points, we must seek for the future of Syria and the Syrians.”

Then, the works of the dialogue symposium started with delivering speeches in the name of the representatives of the participant parties and delegation among them the speech of the head of Aleppo branch of the Alliance Walid Nassan, on behalf of the Christian Sect Josef Qeblan, on behalf of the Future Syria Party Khaleda Abdu, on behalf of the Interfaith Forum the Sheikh Ali Hassan, on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Council Meri Shibli, on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Unity Party Baveh Qehreman, on behalf of the Youth Party for Construction and Change Mohammed Hashash, on behalf of the Dignity Party Thaer Faqih, on behalf of the Democratic Society Movement Fatima Hassen, and the speech of Kongra Star was delivered by Hevin Suleiman.

The speeches touched upon the importance of the symposium held at the moment, and that the people of Syria are those who sacrificed their life for the sake of the home land. Launching from the national duty and to ensure the homeland’s security and safety, the people of Syria meet today at a critical time to struggle against the ideas that support the foreign projects to seek to expel terrorism and reject the colonial projects on the soil of Syria.

The speeches also pointed out that the meetings that took place outside Syria such as Geneva and Astana only resulted in creating a new rift in Syria.

The participants also discussed the efforts of some countries to fund and support the extremists with weapons and enter them into the Syrian interior which resulted in breaking out painful conflicts in which the Syrian people were the victims, the infrastructure of Syria were collapsed and the Syrian society has become a prey to the radical regimes and terrorism. The occupation of Afrin, al-Bab and Jarabulus by the Turkish occupation is the best proof of that.

The speeches also stressed that the solution to the Syrian crisis is at the hands of the Syrians and called to turn around a comprehensive Syrian national project that satisfies all the individuals and preserve Syria's unity, make every effort to restore Syria's national cohesion and develop a map to get rid of the Syrian crisis.

The speeches also assured that the necessity of free women is the base of the society’s freedom and they assured that it is necessary to qualify the women, communicate with all women in Aleppo and transfer the experience of women in North Syria to all parts of Syria. Women have proved themselves in all fields, repelled the most violent attacks, made the most beautiful epics and they have become able to take their political decisions, build a decentralized, pluralistic and democratic Syria and shape the future features of Syria.

The symposium continues its works as it is scheduled to form a committee to formulate and discuss the recommendations and ratify on them.
