Girê Spî prepares for 2nd annual 'Culture, Heritage' Festival

The Center for Culture and Art is preparing to participate in the second annual festival of "Culture and Heritage" and supervise its activities alongside the canton's council.

The festival was the 1st in the world and was the 1st of its kind in North Syria to include a review of the heritage of all components in Girê Spî canton, where last year was held on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the 19 July revolution, which had been launched in Kobanî
This year's festival will feature cultural, heritage and sporting events such as authentic Arabian horse racing and camel shows, popular food for the three components of the canton, poetry evenings, singing and dancing teams, football matches, table tennis, chess, biking and marathon races.

The events of Girê Spî's Culture and Heritage Festival" will be held on the 20th and 21st of July.

The festival will be attended by the people of Girê Spî of Kurds, Arabs and Armenians, coming from the districts and towns of al-Salouk, Ain Issa, Hammam al-Turkoman, and  Girê Spî city and its villages, and will be supervised by the Youth and Culture and Art Committees.

Tasks of the Youth Committee

The Youth Committee oversees the sports events, "the matches involving 12 teams, which are from Girê Spî and Ain Issa, al-Turkman and Salouk."

It also oversees the cycling race, which will be held with the participation of 20 cyclists, chess with 20 participants, table tennis and volleyball team, 6 teams participated.

It also oversees the Marathon, where 22 women, including women, will take part in a specific area.

A group has been screened to attract Arabian and genuine horses from al-Jazeera desert areas where the cavalry lives.

Committee of Culture and Art

The culture and Art committee attract poets to establish poetry evenings in the festival, painters and sculptors to draw paintings and sculpture statues, and take care of the Arab, Kurdish and Armenian heritage and bring the traditional costumes worn by all the components of Girê Spî, it also oversees popular singing and dance performances.

It prepares the popular food that belongs to the Kurdish, Arab and Armenian component in a tent that will define the popular food that will be prepared.

Mohammad Kader, an administrator at the Culture and Art Committee, said they were working to make the second annual festival of culture and heritage, attracting many people who would revive the heritage.

These events come on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the revolution of 19 July, the revolution of Rojava, which was launched from Kobanî city to extend to the rest of the cities of North Syria.
