Experts from parties still committed to Iran's nuclear deal to hold meeting in Tehran

The meeting comes amid uncertainty over the future of the deal since the United States withdrew in May and the diplomatic tension created by Iran's announcement of a plan to increase its uranium enrichment capacity.

Iran on Wednesday reiterated its intention to reactivate its nuclear program in the event of the cancellation of the international agreement with it in 2015, raising the resentment of Europeans who are trying to save the agreement and protect their companies from US sanctions at the same time.

Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Reda Najafi, said Tehran had begun "preliminary work in the event of a nuclear agreement failing to move its activities without restrictions linked to the nuclear agreement." He confirmed this information to Fars News Agency in this regard.

The Europeans are trying to maintain the deal, which was narrowly seized in 2015 and is supposed to prevent Iran from acquiring atomic weapons in return for lifting the sanctions that kept it isolated and suffocating its economy.

But Donald Trump withdrew from it in May and threatened to impose harsh sanctions on all parties that want to establish economic exchanges with the country.

Member States and the European Parliament have two months to oppose it. "If no one objects," the commission said, "the law will enter into force at the beginning of August" at the latest "as the first American sanctions.
