Young woman in Deir ez-Zor demanded putting end to minors' marriage

The young woman in Deir ez-Zor denounced the phenomenon of marriage of minors in the society, and called on the concerned parties to protect the minor women, punish those who are responsible for that and enact legislative laws to put an end to this phenomenon.

This came during a statement issued by the Young Women Union in Deir ez-Zor and read by a member of the Women's House in Deir ez-Zor Ahlam Ibrahim who said:

"The prevalence of the underage marriage is represented by denying the female of equal opportunities in education and development as it is determined in the Convention on the Child Rights which means the isolation from the public life and the social participation due to the marriage of childhood age.

And the way did not open for them to develop their knowledgeable skills and their mental potential and to discover themselves and to know that how much they could cope with the public and family problems, and therefore, they become the captive of the home and deprived of participation in the social life.

Therefore, we call for the need to find a solution for this social problem, and to hold the parents and officials who are responsible for the marriage of minors the accountable, and we demand the enactment and legislation of a law to put an end to this phenomenon in addition to reducing the domestic violence.
