US Strikes kill two of Iraq's PMF

 Today, the US Central Command said that its forces alone launched air strikes against the Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq.

The leadership stated in a statement on the “X” platform that the raids targeted 3 facilities that it said were being used by the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades and other groups that it described as affiliated with Iran.

It added that the raids were a response to attacks launched by the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, including the attack on the Ain al-Assad base in the west of the country. According to the statement, the strikes targeted facilities of missiles and drones.

Earlier, Iraqi sources told the Saudi Al-Sharq network that an American air strike targeted sites belonging to Iraqi armed factions in the Al-Qaim region, west of the country.

Later, local Iraqi media reported that American aircraft launched 5 raids on the military college inside the Jurf al-Sakhar area and an operations headquarters in northern Babylon in central Iraq, noting that there were reports of the killing of two members of the Popular Mobilization Forces in an American attack on the border city of Al-Qaim with Syria.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement: “US military forces carried out necessary and proportionate strikes on three facilities used by the Iranian-backed  Hezbollah militia and other Iranian-affiliated groups in Iraq.”

He added: "These precision strikes are a direct response to a series of escalatory attacks against US personnel and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria by Iranian- affiliated  militias."

The American strikes led to the death of at least two people, according to Agence France-Presse, quoting a security official and a leader in the Popular Mobilization Forces.
