Turkey's Parliament has voted to extend its current legislative session for a second time after it had originally been scheduled to begin its summer recess on 1 July, as the ongoing peace process continues.

The extension was approved on Tuesday following a proposal submitted by the parliamentary bloc of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party/AKP). Under the decision, Parliament will continue its work until 6 August, after which it will enter its recess.

Lawmakers are expected to continue debating several draft laws currently on the parliamentary agenda, including amendments to the Higher Education Law, the Child Protection Law, international agreements, and the framework bill related to the Peace and Democratic Society Process.
