Pezeshkian: Iran ready for agreement with Washington to end war

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country does not want to continue the war with the United States, calling on Washington to decide on ending it and affirming Tehran’s readiness to reach an agreement with the U.S. administration within the framework of international law.

In an interview with Fox News aired Thursday, Pezeshkian said resolving disputes through dialogue is preferable to continued fighting, blaming Israel for the outbreak of the war and stressing that Iran does not seek to prolong it.

He added that Tehran is ready to move forward with an agreement previously reached with the U.S. President Donald Trump, saying the collapse of the previous agreement prevented an end to the fighting.

He explained that his country is not concerned with the timing of the U.S. elections and that its position is tied to reaching an agreement within the framework of international law.

Pezeshkian’s remarks came after indirect talks between Iranian and U.S. officials in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, as reports indicated that the two sides remain divided over the terms for ending the war despite the continuation of the diplomatic process.
