The representative of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar, and the representative of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Scandinavian countries, Shiar Ali, met with Hökan Svenneling the member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Swedish Parliament, and the official spokesman for foreign relations of the Swedish Left Party, in Headquarters of the Autonomous Administration Representative in Stockholm.

During the meeting, the Democratic Autonomous Administration delegation  briefed the Swedish side on the general situation in Syria, the latest developments in NESyria, and the most prominent challenges facing the Autonomous Administration including “terrorism” and  danger of ISIS mercenaries.

The Autonomous Administration delegation confirmed that there are a number of factors that hinder the war against ISIS, including political, economic, and legal, in addition to the Turkish attacks that destabilize the region and impede the war against ISIS, and the Turkish attacks on infrastructure and vital facilities, which led to electricity, gas and water stations being out of service, depriving hundreds of thousands of civilians of basic services, which exacerbates their humanitarian suffering.

The delegation stressed the need for Sweden and the international community to assume its responsibilities and the need to provide support to the Autonomous Administration in order to be able to confront "terrorism" and eradicate it.

The delegation also touched on the ratification of the social contract for NE Syrian region, and the municipal elections that will take place on the eleventh of next June.

For his part, Hökan Svenneling explained that the international community’s preoccupation with other issues, such as the crisis between Russia and Ukraine and the new crisis between Israel and Hamas, led to the neglect of some other pressing issues such as “terrorism,” which still poses a great danger to NE Syria and the entire international community.

Svenneling stressed the need to provide support in all aspects to the Autonomous Administration, and appreciated the Autonomous Administration’s decision to hold elections in NE Syria, despite all the difficulties.

The two sides stressed the need to continue meetings and work together to strengthen relations between the Autonomous Administration and the Kingdom of Sweden in the future.
