Kurdish writer and historian Bradost Mitani emphasized that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and figurehead Abdullah Ocalan cannot be deemed a normal political party or a single person but rather as a movement that has an incredibly strong influence on society and politics in the Middle East and globally, especially in terms of resolving the Kurdish question.

According to Mitani, the party has transcended the traditional party organization and gained the status of a broad movement in defense of people's rights while putting the interests of people above all and above capitalism. This culminated in the qualitative shifts in thought, culture, and rapprochement between countries.

According to Mitani, leader Abdullah Ocalan's philosophy and the PKK were pivotal in taking the concept of a democratic nation into practice, especially in Turkey, which has traditionally followed policies of denial toward different nationalities. According to him, this was the philosophy that made it possible for the Turkish mentality to become more realistic in living among Kurds, Turks, and other nations.

As far as the party's impact in Syria is concerned, Mitani described that for the first time, democracy and living together between people was brought to the forefront because of this philosophy since there has been a common struggle to establish a decentralized political establishment. The party also had a major role in the defense of Kurdish rights, which were under threat of denial and erasure by language.

He further noted that other Syrian Kurdish parties had not registered any genuine achievements in consolidating Kurdish identity, yet the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) had brought about substantial changes, transforming the Kurdish people into a founding force in Syria and an example to be followed towards gaining freedom and safeguarding all elements.

Bradost Mitani concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Leader Abdullah Ocalan are a renewed project that achieves victories for the people, adding that the party's strength continues to lead the struggle in service of the people and their just causes.

On February 27, through a delegation from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Leader Abdullah Ocalan issued a historical appeal titled "The Call for Peace and Democratic Society," asking the PKK to hold a conference and dissolve itself. As soon as the appeal was issued, discussions and assessments began throughout Kurdistan and the world. The party announced a ceasefire on March 1, 2025, and convened its 12th conference between May 5 and 7, announcing the party's dissolution to the general public.
